Rupees 35 Lakhs to kin of AN 32 victims by Defence Ministry

Visakhapatnam: After the Indian Air Force’s AN-32 aircraft tragedy,eight employees of Naval Armament Depot (NAD), Vizag went missing.
The Defence Ministry has finally announced ex-gratia of Rs 35 lakh, along with general pension to the eight families.
It can recalled that Indian Air Force plane AN 32 drowned in Bay of Bengal on July 22, 2016.
Vizag MP K Haribabu wrote a letter to the then Defence Minister Arun Jaitley saying that to grant special benefits to the legal heirs of deceased defence civilian employees,
who died in the mishap of the AN-32 Aircraft.  In a reply to Haribabu’s letter,  Arun Jaitley mentioned that Rs 35 lakh ex-gratia along with the extra ordinary pension to the legal heirs of the deceased, as per the provisions of CCS Rules has also been approved by the Competent Authority.
Even AP Government has paid Rs 5 lakh as ex gratia to each of the families of the victim employees of Naval Armament Depot (NAD) from Vizag on April 8 this year.
Expressing pleasure with the decision of the ministry of defence, NAD Civil Employees Union led by its president KA Nageswara Rao on Thursday met Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command (ENC) for his efforts in favour of the bereaving families.
