'YSR Congress Party failed to play its role'

Stating that JSP president Pawan Kalyan was not on the same page with the BJP, secretary of the CPI State unit K. Ramakrishna on Sunday said the two Left parties and the JSP were chalking out a “people’s agenda” for the ensuing general elections.

'Charge baseless'

“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been alleging time and again that Mr. Pawan Kalyan is associated with the BJP. This false campaign is intended to boost the image of Mr. Naidu,” he said addressing a press conference in Rajamahendravaram on the sidelines of the party State conference.

“Representatives of the CPI, the CPI (M), and the JSP are meeting in Hyderabad on Monday to chalk out the agenda. Our aim is to address the problems of the common man,” Mr. Ramakrishna said. Accusing Mr. Naidu of misusing public money on self promotion, he said the State was literally in a debt trap as the debts had gone up three-folds from ?94,000 crore at the time of bifurcation. “There is no major allocation for infrastructure development. Welfare schemes too are not being implemented in a proper manner. Instead, the government is spending huge money on publicity campaigns,” he said and demanded that the government make public the financial position. Mr. Ramakrishna further said the opposition YSRP had utterly failed in addressing public grievances. “There is no point in electing either the TDP or the YSRCP. People are looking for an alternative,” he said.
